If you live in Woking Borough, make sure you are part of Celebrate Woking; a year-long programme of cultural events and activities which will embrace the inspiration and excitement of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic celebrations, as well as the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Creating a lasting legacy

Celebrate Woking’s aim is to generate a positive legacy in Woking Borough through cultural and sports participation that remains beyond the London 2012 Games.

Exciting events on your doorstep!

Plans are well underway to deliver a programme of celebratory, cultural and family-friendly events, including:

  • Sport Relief Mile – Sunday 25 March 2012
  • Halfords Tour Series - Tuesday 12 June 2012
  • Queen’s Jubilee celebrations – Saturday 2 to Tuesday 5 June 2012
  • Party in the Park - Saturday 7 July 2012
  • Olympic Torch Relay – Friday 20 July 2012
  • Olympic Cycle Road Races – Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 July 2012
  • West Byfleet LI:VE community events – Friday 27 to Sunday 29 July 2012. Details to be published soon.

In addition to the exciting planned events, we are also administering a range of projects which enable the Borough’s residents to make their mark and leave a lasting legacy beyond 2012, including:

‘The greatest show on earth’

At the heart of this exciting programme will be the arrival of ‘the greatest show on earth’ – the Olympic Games – to the soils of Surrey and Woking Borough.

For one weekend in July 2012, the eyes of the world be will transfixed upon London and Surrey as the fast and furious men’s and women’s Olympic Cycle Road Races whizz through the Borough as the crème de la crème of the world’s top professional cyclists battle it out for gold, silver and bronze medals.
