Diwali Lantern Parade

31 October

Let light and happiness fill your life.

Celebrate new beginnings, good versus evil and the triumph of light over dark, by joining our colourful lantern parade.

Diwali, the festival of lights, is celebrated by Hindus,Sikhs and Jains across the globe. Accompanying the procession of handcrafted lanterns made by the community with Surrey Art School, will be live music and performance.

Parade route

The lantern parade will start at 6pm from Gloucester Square (outside the Civic Offices) making its way into Jubilee Square, through Peacocks Shopping Centre and along Commercial Way. It will then head towards the H.G. Wells Conference and Events Centre where the Diwali inspired celebrations will continue.

Officially opening at 7.30pm, the celebration event is free, with limited entry on a first come, first served basis. The party will feature Indian music and performances from local community groups and a variety of traditional foods to buy.
