Although visitors to Woking Town Centre enjoy the benefits of its modern amenities and up-to-date shopping malls, the surrounding Borough has a wide range of historic buildings and sites of architectural interest.

These include the ruins of Henry VIII's Tudor hunting palace, one of the country's earliest navigable waterways, Britain's first purpose-built mosque, and the one of the largest 19th century cemeteries in western Europe. Why not find out more about Woking's unique Muslim Heritage and the self-guided trails that are available?

In addition, The Lightbox gallery and museum is home to Woking's Story, an exhibition showing the town's more recent history, from the arrival of the railway in the 19th century to present day.

Every September, many of the borough's heritage sites open their doors to the public for free, and host special events as part of the national Heritage Open Days festival.
