James and the Octebob by Noah Fidge

It was a dark night down Claremont Road and the last peep of the sun. James was just about to go to sleep when BOOM!!!

Fully awake with a fright, James crept down-stairs and, out of the corner of his eye, he saw an Octebob come out of the chimney and slime itself into the kitchen.

The Octebob had 8 tentacles, 10 eyes and 3 antlers. It was purple with pink spots and oozed slime out of itself wherever it went.

James ran upstairs to tell his parents, but when he got to the top step he was thrust forward and then suddenly was pulled back!

He fell back down the stairs with a huge Bang! the noise woke his parents who ran out of their bedroom to see what was happening. They were shocked to see James was being wrapped in slime and pulled down the stairs. James started shouting for his parents to Help!

His dad jumped at the Octebob and was immediately sucked in with a tentacle. But just as he was being totally wrapped in slime, he grabbed the banister with one hand and James’ leg with the other.

He pulled with all his mighty strength and the Octebob split in half. But James was still trapped in the opposite half to his dad.

His mum looked on in shock and suddenly noticed that the torn half of the Octebob was beginning to slime and grow – and was slowly re-growing itself.

Mum ran downstairs and into the kitchen and grabbed the first thing at hand – Toffee popcorn! – and she began throwing it at the Octebob. He seemed strangely interested!
